Your Purpose
Rare Parts is a high mix-low volume manufacturer of steering and suspension parts with a focus on obsolete parts.
A Production Machinist will be responsible for everything from set up to finishing these parts.
What You'll Do
- Read and write CNC programs for Okuma Lathes, Hass Lathe and Fanuc controlled Mill.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
- Able to run multiple machines.
- Read and create drawings using AutoCAD and SOLIDworks.
- Create and maintain procedures to include set up and assembly processes.
- Conduct and perform FAI (first article inspection).
- All employees are to maintain a clean, organized and safe work space.
- Machinists are required to maintain the equipment to ensure safe operation. including fluid levels.

- You will also lead these meetings.

- Through 5 S'ing (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize & Sustain) keep surrounding work area clean, neat, organized and the floor free of tripping hazards.
- Regular and consistent attendance as per your schedule, including but not limited to arriving to your work station ready and on time, clocking in and out from your breaks and/or lunch appropriately.
- Any other job as assigned by the supervisor.
Where You'll Work
A Production Machinist will work in a standard non-cooled warehouse environment where temperatures may be warmer than normal during the summer months (fans provided) with some outdoor exposure. While heating is provided during the winter months, temperatures can be lower than normal during this time. The warehouse is completely enclosed from the elements. The environment may be noisy from time to time. This is a hands-on position, there will be times where you will get dirty.

Physical Requirements
- This job is physically demanding and may require long periods of standing in place and/ or sitting.
- May require moderate to heavy lifting.
- Ability to obtain a forklift operators license and operate a forklift on a safe and consistent basis.
- Frequent repetitive manual motion with hands and extremities.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Strong Preferences
- 5+years of progressive machinist experience
- Machinist Certificate or degree from accredited technical school
- Experience with manual equipment (i.e. manual lathe and manual mill)
- Advanced computer skills and/or experience with NetSuite ERP system
- Proficient in AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS
- Passion for the automotive industry
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing
